Hello Joel. I think they call it the attenuator cylinder. I have welded a few and they are holding. the biggest thing is getting the oil out of the crack and keeping it out when your welding it takes alot of heating with a torch. if yours has been welded 5 times you might have trouble getting it to hold. as far as taking it out and plugging the line. I would say a 3588 hydralic pump is worth more than the $600 bucks. I would think with out it you would get spikes in the hyd system, the pressure spikes could damage the pump and at $50 for 5 gal of hyd oil. you better just buckup to the CaseIH counter and get the part.
