Glenn, I don't know about the question on M's, but I have a copy of the forms that IH dealers filled out when they ordered a new H or HV tractor. I was given this by the Wisconsin Historical Society. The date of this form is March 20, 1950. (I hope all this info emails line-by-line like I typed it without getting it all jumbled up.)

You will notice that only 38" rears are listed for the H, and 36" rears are listed for the HV.
Remember this is a 1950 order form; 36" on an H might have been avail. in earlier years, I just don't know.

First page of order form lists accordingly:

Today's Featured Article - Uncle Cecil's Super A Lives Again - by Mike Purcell. A week or so out of most of my childhood summers was often spent with my Uncle Cecil and Aunt Sissie in the small East Texas town of Maydelle on their 80 acre farm. Uncle Cecil was the second owner of this wonderful little tractor, but it was almost as though he had adopted an infant. The original owner was a man from Minnesota who bought her from a local dea ... [Read Article]
