I like that Keith. In 1948 they didnt have the water pump so I didnt have to worry about that. In fact my cousin had converted my SA back years ago but the top tension bracket he used was kind of "home made" looking. I had to make one because I just couldnt stand the way he did it. Plus he did a one wire conversion so I changed it to three wire.
I have a 1976 140 that came from the factory with an alt and the mounting bracket on it is really differnat. I thought about checking it out and see if it would work on a SA. It might solve a lot of problems when people try to convert to the alt. The alt also came with a cover that protects it, kind of a shroud with mesh wire in the front. I had told Hugh one time that they had cut the fan shroud but after I checked it out more and saw another one just like mine I concluded it must have came that way.
You know they also changed the tie rods, rockshaft arms, pressure rods for the cultivators, and the mounting pads for the cultivators. Little minor changes but sometimes makes a big differance.
