I just got the head pulled on my International 3444 It has the BD154 Diesel - The Injector ports have a pressed in insert on the cylinder side that decreases the size of the hole in the cylinder - The #1 and #4 Inserts are loose and hang down into the cylinders about an 1/8 inch - The pistons in these two cylinders have the insert shape worn into their tops 1/8th inch deep, My - The other pistons have their tops marred and gouged to resemble the carbon deposits on the under side of the head, # 2 piston has a nice crack - The head is completely flush and level all across and there are no recesses for the tops of each cylinder -its all flat except for the valve recesses. The pistons are flush with the deck at TDC - The only clearance for the pistons is that made by the head gasket - I'm thinking there should be more clearance between the top of the pistons and the head ? Theres nothing in the manual about this and Im not sure what to do. Anyone have experience with BD154's ? If I can find out how much height I need I can possibly have a shim made. Ed
