You will for sure need to remove the top cover. Also will need to remove the front yoke and input gear on the front of the transmission. You will want to keep this input gear as a matched set to your shafts input gear.
Also keep all the adjustment shims you get from your donar. You will spend days trying different adjustments to get your transmission to be quite with different shim adjustments. If your keyway is worn and your transmission is not noisey now I would strongly suggest you weld the keyway a little at a time as to not warp or destroy bearings and seals and then grind it to shape with a die grinder. I have a shaft laying in the shed with a good keyway but worn out gears. I wouldn't want to spend the time I have adjusting to get things quite in my F-12 again!
