remove the front grille, and take the cover off the top of the front bolster. it will expose the worm and sector gears. turn the steering shaft and see how much play there is at the gears. if they are worn, pretty common, you will need to replace the steering shaft that has the worm gear on it and the gear on top of the bolster. if the gear on top of the bolster is a full circle gear, you can remove it and turn it 180 degrees. if its the gear thats about 3/4 's round, you will need to replace em. also check the u-joints in the steering shaft, there are bushings and bearings in the bolster that wear out too.
