getting in to antique pulling advise?

Antique pulling is starting to get going again locally with basic rules and mostly local smalltime competetors.To build somthing to play with in 5-7 and 7-10 thousand # range on a modest budget, what do you guys recommend, an M, 400,or 450 with that motor style or a 460-560 with the 6 cylinder motor.Gas of course and 1960 age limit.Any help or direction is appreciated.
