Lifter contact surfaces As stated below in many cases have a very shallow crown on them. This is almost unmeasurable, and might be best seen in a piece of glass. they would not rock more than a tiny bit when checked. If you can see aby roundness, it is toast. if there is cupping it is toast. In both cases, the cam is also toast (it might be regrindable, but no way is it ok to put new lifters on a cam that has had a bad lifter run on it. JimN
