More then likely it is the pump and also the old M's just did not have enough pressure even with the updater relief valve installed your only talken at best 1000 lbs if the pump is good . On the Jd. haybines the cylinders are SMALL as when they built them they were made for the newer tractors with higher hyd pressure and them littel cylinder wrok fine on high pressure . My buddy has a 1219 and that pice of GREEN junk is a thorn in my side . This year my buddy wanted to mow hay with the old JUNKY 720 John Deere and guess what it will hardly lift the 1219 . It will not lift the 7000 Deere planter as that was his other great idea to plant with it just not enough Hyd pressure on the older tractors . Not if you had a New Holland haybine with and external cylinder let say a 3x 8 it would lift it just fine but when they build the hyd . cyl. into the machine there is just no hope other then either get a newer tractor with more modren hyd. system and a higher working pressure of switch colors on the haybine .One other thing that ya could do is step up to adding a live hyd.'s to the M and then you could up there pressure to around 1250-1450 . But here you will have to upgrade the cam gear and camshaft as not to have the nut work loose on the cam and shear the key.

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
