I recently rebuilt a 1940 H, and replaced the distillate head w/ a gas head. The three tubes which are pressed into the head, through which center studs pass, were all but rusted away. I purchased three new sleeves from Case/IH, at about $30 each, but they were oversize.....wasn't anyway in the world they were gonna fit...I was annoyed, and trying to get the engine together in time for a show, so I turned the sleeves down on my lathe and pressed them in....seemed like a lot of trouble and I really thought they should have fit right the first time. The part # seemed to match up w/ what the original parts book called for, but what gives? Anyone else ever experience that? Or did I somehow get the wrong sleeves?
