I looked at a another 1086 yesterday. This one wasn"t quite as purdy as the other one, but I was actually fairly impressed with it. 7200 hrs. serial #31149 (1978) $7500 digital tach that didn"t work (why digital on a "78?) No noises in gears, rear end, motor that I could hear. I even rode around on the drawbar, per your suggestion. A/C didn"t work (I"d be fixing that before spring) Everything else seemed to work fine- steering/front end nice and tight. T/A worked fine. PTOs turned (no load). Wider, newer cab steps. Concerns: trans oil pressure (hyd?) light on dash was on fairly often (of course when clutch is down and when shifting T/A, but also at slow idle when warm). Does that mean pump is failing? Do you have to split tractor to replace? Small engine oil leak near back- could be rear main, but seemed more external than coming out of clutch housing. Rear radial tires were worn kind of funny, like worn at an angle, like a car with the front end out of alignment. Didn"t see any wobble or bent rim, etc. when I was riding on drawbar. It seemed more like a good honest working tractor with some details to be fixed. Not as many red flags as a "we just got done fixing this thing up and want to dump it before you discover the real problem" type of tractor. Seems like there might be something there to work with. Dunno. What d"ya think? Paul

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
