IH did not go out of business. It still exists today as Navistar. They make International trucks. My IH stock became shares in Navistar. Technically, IH sold it's agriculture division to Tenneco, a holding company that already owned what was left of Case, which wasn't much. Believe me, the Case name would be long ago gone without the Case/IH merger. Tenneco then merged the two into Case/IH. Case/IH seems to have kept the IH engineering department from the looks of it. Case/IH was spun off by Tenneco into it's own company, which then merged with New Holland. New Holland had already owned what had been Ford's tractor division. Or, at least that is how I remember it. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I have it wrong.
