Hi Noel, I believe it was an extra cost option. We had 674 no T/A but when chopping corn with it, 2nd gear was to slow and 3rd to fast. Traded for 684 with T/A and 2nd Lo T/A was good for heavy corn and 2nd HI T/A good for regular corn. Neighbour had 684 without T/A. The T/A in 584,684,784,884 series is a combination hydraulic clutch pack for HI side and LO side is mechanical sprag clutch. It has its one hydraulic pump run off the PTO drive shaft and is activated by a lever to the left side of the steering wheel. JB2
