If the splines on the clutch shaft are grooved from wear, the disk can catch on them and remain up against the flywheel (this can be intermittent). The result is pretty severe dragging of the disk on the F/wheel. Pulsing would be due to uneven wear or hot spots on the F/wheel surface. The other possible cause is a friction surface comming off of the disk. It may jamb in the free space on some ocassions, and not others. I would put a clutch in it just because the pulsation you mention indicates issues that are probably not adjustable from the outside. JimN
