Yep, they have to be dead on , now on the 291 it realy is suppose to be at 18 but you can go to 20 and no more on the gas of today even with the 93 octain when ya could get 95 you could go to 24 with out swelling the top of the pistons and that was back when ya could get a Fordged piston now today all ya get is a CAST piston they will not get rid of the heat as fast and swell a bunch more BTDT . So if ya don't want funny littel lines running up and down your cylinder walls set the timeing at what i told ya and run the 93 as it burns cooler and burns longer less sooting of the plugs and less combustion heat and more useable power .
