I'm currently restoring a MD for my grandson. Having a blast doing it as it is a great stress relief to go to the garage and tinker after a day at work. I wanted it to be as complete and as perfect as possible and without the time to get into the engine myself I decided to take it to a IH dealer that was recommended. The engine started and ran fine but had a lot of blow-by. Told the dealer I wanted it right but take in to consideration this tractor would spent 90% of its life in parades. I know parts for an MD are a lot more expensive and harder to find than a standard M but imagine my surprise when I got a call today with a quote of $6000 to $7000! I told them not to touch it and I would drive the 145 miles to pick it up. We can put up with some blow-by in the parades for that kind of money.
