First thing I'd do is disassemble the front end and make sure it's really the thrust bearing that's the problem. My Super H had similar steering difficulties when I got it. Upon taking it apart I discovered someone before me had left out a spacer below the thrust bearing during a previous reassembly. The stiff steering was caused by the flange on the pivot shaft rubbing on the undeside of the fixed bolster. (The thrust bearing however was found to be in "like new" condition.) Punch below for a few photos taken during the repair. However if the problem IS a bad thrust bearing, take the number off it then call your local bearing supply house. In all likelihood a new one will be cheaper there than at the CIH dealer. Also while you've got it apart suggest checking the pivot shaft bushings and replacing them if they are worn!
