Well Newpuller , in a word -Yes ! I bought mine off ebay . I don't recommend that unless the tractor is close enough to go look at before you bid . When I got it home I pulled the oil pan and cleaned out the leaves and sludge and a couple of twigs . Anyway , it runs OK and it drives OK and the tires hold air BUT a ton of things are wrong with it starting with the lack of paint . The bearings are bad in the bolster making it tough to turn , the rear end leaks gear oil out the two front seals and it makes a whirring/soft rattling noise when in neutral or any gear unless it's coasting unloaded down a hill at any speed , then it's quiet , the noise might be because when I changed the gear oil the old oil was full of water and with a flashlight I could see that the tranny gears are rust pitted or it could be the front bearings are bad . The muffler is not put on right and it lets rain water seep into the engine and the pto shaft seal leaks . When I put oil in the engine this morning after draining the rain water out the new oil poured out the front crank seal as I was filling it , but it doesn't leak while it's running - go figure - , and the belt drive output shaft seal leaks . The problems I have with mine I hope are all easy fixes since I don't think I'll have to open anything up to fix them unless the tranny noise is a little deeper than the input shaft bearing or the front countershaft bearing , regardless though I'm just going to put in new seals for the time being . But hey , I bought it for something to keep me busy so I guess I got a good one for that ! Good Luck with your's . Take care ! ...Randy

Today's Featured Article - Uncle Cecil's Super A Lives Again - by Mike Purcell. A week or so out of most of my childhood summers was often spent with my Uncle Cecil and Aunt Sissie in the small East Texas town of Maydelle on their 80 acre farm. Some of my fondest memories of these visits are those of learning to drive a tractor at the helm of Uncle Cecil’s 1948 Farmall Super A. Uncle Cecil was the second owner of this wonderful little tractor, but it was almost as though he had adopted an infant. The original owner was a man from Minnesota who bought her from a local dea ... [Read Article]
