Definetly a bad ballast resistor. It's the rectangular white thing near your coil. It's purpose is to knock the voltage going to the coil down to 6 volts while the engine is running, to prevent burning the points. To aid in starting, the ballast resistor is bypassed to provide a full 12 volts to the coil. On the back of your starter solenoid, you'll notice a small terminal labled "R". Whenever the solenoid is engaged (by pushing the starter button), 12 volts is sent through this terminal and through the wire attached to it, which is attached to the coil side of the ballast resistor, bypassing it. To test this and to get your tractor home, just run a hot wire to the + side of the coil. It's perfectly safe to run for a short time with the resistor bypassed, but you'll probably need new points after running a few hours like that.
