When the gear spiraled outward, the relationship between the twwth stayed the same (just as it would with straight cut gear teeth) the teeth have to jump positions to cahnge the relationship between two gears in mesh with the moving gear. The timing of the cam gear itself would be changed, just not the others. JimN
