Only two reasons I can think of for using square head bolts. 1. You want your tractor to be as orginal as possible. 2. Sometimes the setting for the bolts have a recess ot a lug designed to accept square head bolts. The recess or the lug is to keep the bolt from turning as you tighten or loosen it. In this situation, nearly impossible to get a wrench on the head if you substitute hex bolts, so best to use the square head bolts.
