The new meter attaches reverse to the old one. Plus to the wire to the battery, neg to the accessories and ign. sw. All power into the battery, or out of it(except the starting current) must run through the meter. If it does not move when the engine is running, the battery may be charged up all the way. Alternators do such a good job that little needle movement is OK. Charging voltage is 14.2-14.5 volts. If not the alternator may be not turning fast enough to energise it. See other archive posts on getting alternators to charge. If the lights are switched on with the engine off the meter chould show 8-10amp discharge. JimN
