Ken: It's been a long while so I'm just going from memory. One of those screws sets the brake that holds pto shaft from turning when not engaged. The other sets bands that force planetary and pto shaft to turn. Loosen the locknuts on screws and place the engage lever near half way position between the two notches. Then tighten those screws until you have about 1/16" free travel of lever between the two. Play with this until you have the free travel at the midway point. Having said this, I must warn you that you may be too late. I have never seen one of those pto units slip but what it needed rebuilding. Problem is the unit probably was slipping hours before you noticed it, maybe by 5 to 10 rpms. 5 or 10 rpms would create a lot of heat, but as it happened gradually, it wouldn't be noticed at first. I have never rebuilt one, always shipped them off to the IH dealer. There are guys on here who have rebuilt those units.
