r4etired and IHCarl66 are both right. You'll need to drain the rear end and transmission and then take the deck/cover off. It could be a few teeth off the constant mesh gear, so that you have just two gears to replace, or the counterhaft could be sheared, or, or, or... Whatever it is, you're up for an adventure, but I'll bet it's not more than few hundred bucks at most. Keep us posted, and good luck. Wm Here's my '46 H undergoing similar surgery:
