Loader Cylinders

One of these days I need to open up and re-seal the lift cylinders on my U34 Power Loader.I have yet to peer inside a hydraulic ram (with the exception of looking at a diagram of the innards).I have purchased new o rings the correct size and material and have new (but different style) dust seals.I just need to know if there will be any surprises,or does the end just screw off to reveal the rings readily? I have noticed black streaks down the chrome of the rams lately,so I would imagine the rubber is all crumbled up and gone by now (it leaks when parked).
