There is some controversy about when the various changes took place. I believe Hugh McKay thinks some of them were applied much earlier than the parts book says. But, according to the parts book, the faster 3rd and 4th speeds were not available in the straight H, in fact the so called 7 mph 4th in the H became a 6 5/8 4th in the Super H. 1st, 2nd,and 5th are also faster in the Super H. And, in addition to the faster 4th, 3rd in the SH is almost as fast as 4th in the H (5 vs 5 1/8). Not much change in the others. I have not compared the gears in the parts book, but part of the increased speed in 1st and 2nd as listed in the Operators Manuals was probably due to larger tire size, 11 vs 10 inch--don't know how much the 1 inch additional width affected the circumference and resulting speed, probably not much. So the different transmission gears and C164engine were not "supposed" to be in the H, but since I have never seen much less driven any of the last few hundred models, I can't say for sure. I do think if I ever see a late serial H, I will probably buy it, as the brakes alone make it somewhat of a rarity.
