Recently purchased 59 Farmall 460 Gas with 5600 Hrs on Tach from a dealer. Head mechanic said tractor was put on dyno and was turning out approx. 56 HP. The tractor starts fine and there is no blue smoke coming from the exhaust. After receiving tractor, I changed the engine oil and filter. The waste oil appeared to be a heavier grade than 30W and was free from any contaminates (anti-freeze). I replaced with Rotella T 20W for easier starting on cold mornings. Last week the tractor was used and the oil pressure gage seemed to be working. It would fluctuate with engine rpm"s and sometimes max. out. Yesterday, we started the tractor and we have no oil pressure. Is the oil pressure gage malfunctioning or is this a sign of something more serious? Is there any way of checking the oil pressure gage without purchasing another gage? I would appreciate any suggestions.
