My '57 LoBoy (for sale!) used to do the same thing. It sat for a while before I got it and had water in the fuel tank, glass filter bowl and carb bowl. Once I dealt with all that, it was fine. I still have sediment issues from time to time that clog up the bowl from the fuel tank. Good luck!
