Hi, the killer for IH in our area was the strike at their factories in the early 1980s ?? not quite sure of the date but farmers in our area where in the middle of hay season and could not get parts. My Dad's IH baler broke in July sometime and he could not get parts till September. Luckly a neighbor was kind enough to lend his baler.
Then IH started consolidating dealers, now closest dealer was 80 miles away instead of 25.
IH dealer switched to Ford so long term IH customers switched to Ford. Dealer loyallity not
brand loyallity.
