I'm guessing "propane torch" means one of those things you use to unfreeze pipes, roast weenies and light cigars!!! You need an Oxy-MAPP, or Oxy-acetylene torch to get the nut red hot. Propane torches are toys in comparison. Another key to getting the nut off is IMPACT. Either a hammer and cold chisel, or an air-impact wrench. The hammering action will jar the nut loose.
