Another trick of the trade, if you need to slow down and the engine isn't lugging, use the brakes to get the engine to lug a little, then pull it back. As was said above, don't use the TA to slow down a load, as in pulling the TA when going downhill with a loaded wagon behind you. That's a good way to blow it.
