I walk into our shed early Sunday morning for Hy-Tran for our skid-steer, as I was trying to beat the clock spreading manure, and bumped into a tractor I had never seen before. It has about a 2 year old paint job, so it was by far more red than any of our older, weathered tractors, and it was a 1456 Turbo with a bid chrome straight pipe with damper, original deluxe seat, just wow. I had never seen the tractor before, as I had originally assumed it was one of the neighbor's, but I went into the barn to ask my uncle about it. "Grandpa bought it at auction on Wednesday, and got it trucked in yesterday." I sat on that seat and fantized as my uncle gave me the run down on it. 6000 hours, only 500 hours on overhaul, original rainbow tach. Said we have to sell one of the 856's to compensate, and my heart stopped. I had been using our original 856 all weekend spreading manure, and forgot how much I love that tractor. I thought for a second they might sell it. Nope, to my relief, the other 856 I formerly call "Sloppy" is going to go. Bittersweet goodbyes, but I am happy to see a 56 series with 4 digits, and I can't wait to see the beast work. Anyone have any extended info on one? Thanks.

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
