John, If I can I just look in the carb rebuild package at a parts store to see if it has the black rubber tip (believe it's actually viton), or ask the parts guy for the rubber (or viton) tipped valve. The story I get is that some people love em, some hate em. Standard YMMV situation ;) I always ask for them and have good luck with them. The last several I bought were from a TISCO dealer (complete carb kits) and the IH dealer (just needle and seat), both did have the viton tipped valve. But I asked for it each time also. Stan(VA).
