I went the other way on my IH504. It came from the factory with the clamshell fenders, we used it for years that way on the dairy farm. In 1993 I retired the 504 to tractor pulling duty only, and wanted to install a set of 18.4x26 combine tires to increase first gear ground speed and traction. The much wider tires wouldn't fit with the clamshell fenders. I wouldn't allow my daughter to pull the 504 without fenders so I installed the fenders off my Grandad's H that I have. Looks great and protects your legs! I'm now refurbishing the 504 clamshell fenders to put on my Farmall 460 that I bought last fall, which had no fenders on it when I got it. This tractor is also retired from field work now and will strut her stuff on the local tracks this summer. Don
