Gene, Big John is right about the year, it is a 1944. It also is a Industrial A (or A-I). I have been researching these, and can report that there were 838 of them if the information is correct. They are the same as the Farmall A, with the exception that yours should have a foot-throttle between the brake pedals, and a heavy duty square-tube front axle with a torque brace returning back to the rear of the block. Many of these were sold to public highway depts, airports, and military installations. The problem is that there are no delivery records of them that I know of. I've been chasing the issue myself, as I am restoring a '52 Super A Industrial (1 of 5119,or 1 in every 21 tractors) which in '52 was marketed as International, rather than the masses of Farmalls. All of the Super A's were made in the IH Louisville, KY plant, I cannot confirm the earlier A's though. I would recommend getting ahold of Guy Fay's or Ken Updike's Tractor Data Book for more information on the earlier Industrial A's. E-mail me if you have more to share. Good Luck.
