air canister cleaning-560 farmall

I want to say THANKS to all the suggestions about the hydro pump,,it works fine now. I have searched the site for a information on the air fiter canister and cleaning. have found various suggestions, most dealing with the 8 or 9N's. My question: Is the air canister cleaned as a unit or is it made to take apart to clean? I have a shop manual but nothing in there about the canister. John
