This is on a 48 H I've been working on. The tin is pretty good and all the casting numbers are right, I even collected up all of the right bolts with the dimple on the head. So when I started I had the intentions of doing a complete restoration. I did some research, Guy Faye's book is good, lotsa pictures. But now I think I'll leave the M&W friction throttle on and I can't bring myself to paint my new wiring harness either. So much for discipline!

Product Review: Lead Substitutes - by Mike Schordine. Lead was oriinally added to gasoline as an upper cylinder lubricant. It lubes the valves and seats. If you rebuild the motor, you could use hardened seats and valves, and unleaded fuel. But if your old tractor runs good, a simple lead substitute added to the gas is a perfectly reasonable solution.
