Mr. Oil Man: You don't know what you are talking about. Steering shaft on a 560 goes down between the back corner of batteries and below them. Besides the gentleman never suggested he was having trouble starting, just wanted to know how to hook up charger if needed. Further more I suggest if you were having problems starting with the two 6 volt batteries, they were either too small or wireing was too light. My 560 and 656 diesels ran for years on the same 6 volt batteries. They also saw a lot of cold weather starting. Battery cables over the years have created a lot of problems the battery has been blamed for. I had a 6 cylinder Deere diesel. Batteries were 6 years old and in late fall I noticed they weren't quite as sharp as in past. I replaced all the battery cables and yes the batteries went two more years. I might add it started daily that winter at temps of minus 15 to 30 F.
