Another thing you can do, it involves a little trouble, but I have done it a lot of times. Get an extra old 6v battery, and using jumper cables hook the tractor battery, and the other old 6v in series. (requires an extra jumper cable) Then you can use your 12v car to jump it all day and it won't fry anything. The old 6v battery acts as a buffer and you are actually charging 12 volts, however only 6 are going to your tractor battery.
