While mowing hay in May 2003. I lost a sleeve. My 1942 H had been overhauled by the original owner about 6-7 years ago. I had run it for about 2 years with a loud clicking off and on in the engine. My sleeve was jumping up and down. In May it finally let go. A friend (and mechanic) told me to re-build the one cylinder. He ordered me a 1 cylinder rebuild kit. I cleaned oil pan and cylinder wall. He told me to put sleeve in with locktight and let it setup for 24 hours. Well it was about 3 days before I put it together. So far It seems to be doing fine. I will find out in about a month as I will start to mow again. The rebuild kit I used consisted of a sleeve, new piston, rings, and wrist pin. The piston does not match the other 3 but it does not seem to present a problem. The tractor runs smooth and pulls good. I put locktight on the sleeve and block. I also put sleeve in the freezer for several hours before installing. This makes it contract and installing is easier. The kit's cost was $95.
