2 words to described this tractor(gas model anyway: glorified "H". Same trans, rearend with a torque amplifier. No good lugging power with the 6 cyl. engine, total fuel hog, gut-less. I had a 58' model and got rid of it after two years. Sure didn't feel like 47 drawbar horsepower when driving other brands comparible models. Many have had hydraulic problems. IH recalled many in 58'-59' due to rear end failures. After the upgrade the dealers put a triangle stamp on the serial number plate to identify it as upgraded. Nearly ruined(or did) IH's reputation. The diesels are very hard to start even in the summer. On the plus side the live PTO and hydraulics were nice, and I didn't have a TA problem like so may have had. Good hydraulic capacity, mine had a Kelley loader on it. Nice smooth powersteering and big steering wheel and I always preferred the fasthitch to the 3 pt.
