My tractor is a 1950 model with the 248 engine. I want to re-sleeve it and install a set of Firecrater pistons. I have a set of 4 1/8" pistons and sleeves that were removed from a Super M. The sleeves measure 4 1/8" inside and 4 1/4" outside. Can my block be bored out to accept these sleeves, with out getting into the water jacket? I have been told that I can remove the old sleeves and hone the cylinder walls and install these pistons without using any sleeves at all. I am not sure of this advice and do not want to screw up a good block, the serial number on the engine matches the number on the tag. If they cannot be used, I guess that I will sell them and order a new set that will fit. thanks gottago
