There is considerable down force on the 300-400 style hitch. I can lift one of my MTA's if I put blocking under the sockets. I have done it several times when doing tire repair. The tractor has no ballast. If I decreased the mechanical advantage by blocking an implement two feet behind the sockets, I doubt if it would lift the tractor. At any rate you have enough for a scraper blade. You will need alot of ballast (tire fluid or wheel weights) to get enough traction to do any work. The early fast hitch on a Farmall has alot of range. This is particularly true if you use the 2.5" x 8" horizontal cylinder under the belt pulley as well as the vertical cylinder. The range would be about 24"-30". I don't see any problem getting 12" clearance with the blade up.
