I have a 1947 or 1948 Farmall Super A ( I am uncertain of the year). The serial number tag that is usually under the seat is missing. I was told that the number above the distributor on the block matches the number on the tag. Is this true? When people are giving the serial numbers for their tractors in a serial number registry, they are giving the number on the tag under the seat - correct? And the number they are giving as the engine number is the casting number - correct? This engine number is not the number above the distributor which is my understanding is the same number on the tag underneath the seat - correct? Because, a lot of the numbers entered in this registry as engine numbers are ending in R1, R2 which I thought were casting numbers. But some of them look like the numbers that are above the ditributor that start out with FAA, FAAM then a set of numbers which is supposed to be the same as the numbers on the tag underneath the seat. I am confused. Thanks for your help.
