Somebody must have put some really sticky goop on that gasket! I am working on a W-9 and had to remove the head, wouldn't budge. I usually just lift them off with the cherry picker, no problem. Well, on the W-9 I lifted the hole front of the tractor off the ground and had to use an air chisel - still didn't move so I let it sit overnight (front of the tractor in the air). Came out the next morning and chiseled some more and it finally came. If you have a paint scraper or some other thin object with a sharp edge to tap around where it is stuck it could help.
