I'm just guessing here but your temperature gauge may be similar in design to that in my 806. The temp gauge, sensor, and interconnecting cable are not meant to be separated. They are sold as a single unit. If your temperature gauge is not moving off of the "cold" position, that probably means your temperature sensor is bad, but the only way to fix it is to replace the whole ball of wax I believe.
