Earlier this week I got the rod bearings installed. #1,3 and 4 bearings were in bad shape. Rod journals themselves look pretty good. #3 was still usable. Today I was going to install the main bearings. I struggled a bit getting that upper center one swung all the way around to drop it. When I tried to install the new one, I saw there was an undersize probem to the tune of 1/4". Somehow H bearings were packed in a box marked for the M. Bermuda Ken has new main bearings on the way. Sure glad my daughter Corey has good eyes. She wanted to know what that metal tube type thing was in the pickup bed. It turned out to be the regulator valve for the oil pump. It had fallen out while I was transporting it back from NAPA after getting the cap surfaced ground. I have now put the oil pump back together for the 3rd. time. :( Looks like another week before I can fire up this engine again.
