Check your wording on your literature that came with the alternator it should say look for a 13.5-14.5 voltmeter reading during proper operation. An ammeter reading will start high right after you draw current from your battery then as you run the tractor you are putting a charge back in the battery which will raise the voltage but will drop the current flow. An Ammeter reads current flow. Voltmeter reads how many volts is in the battery.
