Draining Battery

I have a 1946 Farmall H. It has been re-wired using all stock replacement harnesses etc. It is a 6V battery/dist. ignition with a cut-out relay (No voltage regulator). A month or so ago, the lights stopped working. Fuse was bad, I also discovered at the time that the generator field resistance strip was broken. I ordered a NOS 4 pos. light switch (the only way I could find to get the field resistance strip replaced). Before putting the new switch in, I wanted to verify that my wiring job from a few years ago was accurate. Someone forewarded a link to Bob M's diagrams to me (thanks Red!), and I ended up switching one wire. Then the battery started going flat all the time. Last week after fully charging the battery, I mowed for 4 hours, unhooked the posative ground left it unhooked for a week, and it was flat dead today. Could it just be the battery happened to go bad the same time I switched the wire? Could it be the relay points sticking? Does the broken field resistance strip have anything to do with it? I haven't put the new switch in yet. I have been through the wiring comparing it to Bob M's diagram several times and it is wired correctly according to the diagram. HELP!! Thanks, Jeff
