Steve: There's four bolts that hold the unit to the the tractor. From either side and before you do anything, you will see three recesses and a bolt head in each. Nothing to worry about; what they're for will be evident once you get the unit off: there's a bottom plate, bolted to the unit with 10 or 12 bolts,... and the recesses accommodate those bolt heads. Free of any attachments to the rockshaft arms (duh!), and disconnected from the pipes to and from the pump,... and drained (as much as it can be) of fluid,... take off those four bolts. The unit is free of the tractor and can be carried to your workbench. Careful -- altho' maybe you're younger and stronger than I am -- that sucker is heavy! One other thing that you might do before you actually take the unit off the tractor. On the rockshaft, there's a nut on either end. A pretty good sized one. Takes maybe an inch-and-seven/sixteenths socket. Those are going to be on very, very tight. You'll get the leverage you need in taking them off -- and I needed a three-foot breaker bar(!) -- if the unit is still attached to the weight of the tractor. Take those nuts off before you take the unit off the tractor,... and, with a puller of some sort, then take those first outside pieces off the rockshaft. Okay? Then you're good to go to the bench. And, when something looks puzzling, to get back in touch with me. I'll watch the forum and stay with you. Keep on wrenching red! RedTed/MO.
